In Good condition. Covers show creasing to front cover, mild to moderate shelf wear, toning and soiling, with scattered foxing. Staple bound, binding tight. Public school ownership stamp with pupil record table on inside of front cover. Interior lightly toned. Otherwise unmarked. Nineteen songs for the kindergarten room, most no longer than a line or two, on weather, birds, small animals and the figures of a child's day: the postman, the snowman, the ducks, the piper. Each song is set opposite a full-page drawing, so the book reads as a picture book with music rather than a music primer with pictures. Words by Edna Shaw, who taught kindergarten in the Buffalo public schools for several decades; piano arrangements by Harry Cumpson, the Buffalo-born concert pianist who trained in Paris, Berlin and New York and was appointed the first lecturer in music at the University of Buffalo in 1918.
