In Very Good condition. Brown and orange printed wrappers; mild edge and shelf wear, with some color loss along the edges and spine. Binding tight; pages lightly toned but otherwise unmarked. A single issue of ETC., the quarterly journal of the International Society for General Semantics. Its chief interest is the appearance of Langston Hughes's protest poem "The Backlash Blues" (page 176). Hughes wrote the poem for Nina Simone, who set it to music and recorded it in 1967; it is printed here in the weeks just after Hughes's death on May 22, 1967, one of its first magazine printings, appearing the same summer as the poem's publication in The Crisis and as a Broadside Press broadside.
