Condition & notes

In very good condition. Pictorial paper covers with French flaps reproduce a detail of one of Cordes' granite-and-stainless-steel sculptures. A few tiny nicks to top edge of front cover, light bumping to edges, and some color loss along edges. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Exhibition catalog for the German sculptor Udo G. Cordes (b. Recklinghausen, 1947), issued for his showing at the Eva Cohon Gallery. Opens with an essay by Christiane Buhling printed in three languages, "Das Dritte Schaffen" (German), "The Third Path" (English), and "Creer une troisieme voie" (French), followed by 42 pages of plates reproducing Cordes' sculptures of 1990 to 1992, work that characteristically pairs rough Norwegian labrador granite with polished stainless steel. Closes with a brief biography and exhibitions list in German. Cordes studied in Hagen and Berlin (1967 to 1975), worked as a freelance sculptor from 1978, and held a teaching post at the Hochschule der Kunste, Berlin, from 1990. He took part in the international sculpture symposia "Lutzowplatz 90" (Berlin) and "Europa ohne Grenzen" (Seelow, 1992).
