Condition & notes

In Good condition. Black-and-white pictorial paper covers show mild to moderate shelf and edge wear, with spotting, soiling and toning to the top edge and spine, some color loss along the edges and spine, and a spot of surface loss to the center of the front cover. Staple bound, binding tight. Toning and spotting to the inside covers and the first and last few leaves; the original price stamped in ink at the head of the title page. Otherwise unmarked.Recounts the last stagecoach robberies on the road to Yosemite in the early 1900s, centering on the August 1905 holdup of the Anton Veith party, the only such robbery known to have been photographed. California historian William B. Secrest draws on contemporary Fresno newspaper accounts and the Veith family album. Illustrated with period photographs and a map of California's Mother Lode country.
