Condition & notes

In Very Good condition. Illustrated paper covers show a small tear to the paper at the comb binding, light bumping and creasing to edges and corners, and mild overall toning and shelf wear. Binding tight, with a little bleed of the first leaf onto the inside front cover. Otherwise pages clean and unmarked. List of surveyed hospitals (three leaves) complete. A field survey by HMC Group architects Hector A. Patrucco and Gary L. McGavin documenting nonstructural damage (as distinct from structural failure) to Los Angeles area healthcare facilities following the January 17, 1994 Northridge earthquake. Tables organized by hospital department record damage to ceilings, equipment, shelving, fire sprinklers, and other building systems, illustrated with black-and-white photographs and closing with a list of the hospitals surveyed. An early primary-source assessment of the kind that informed later California hospital seismic-retrofit policy, cited in the subsequent earthquake-engineering literature (OCLC 34795778).
