In very good condition, no dust jacket. Blue-gray cloth-covered boards with silver lettering on spine; mild edge and shelf wear to covers with a hint of color loss along edges. Binding tight, pages clean and unmarked. First volume of Waugh's planned autobiography, the only one completed before his death in 1966. Covers his ancestry, Hampstead childhood, schooling at Lancing, Oxford years, and his early period as a schoolmaster, closing in 1925. Illustrated with family portraits and facsimiles of the author's own childhood writing and drawings, including his cover design for the Oxford Broom.
