In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Red cloth-covered boards with white lettering on the front cover and spine. Mild edge wear to the covers. The binding is tight and the pages are clean and unmarked. The pictorial dust jacket reproduces "On the Beach at Dieppe" on the front and "Honfleur, the July 14th Regattas" on the back; it shows light bumping and creasing to the edges and corners, mild shelf wear, and faint sticker residue on the front jacket flap. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover.A monograph on the French landscape painter Eugene Boudin (1824 to 1898), part of the Crown Art Library (Q.L.P. Art Series). Jean Selz, a specialist in nineteenth-century art, recounts Boudin's life and traces his lifelong attachment to the shores and skies of Normandy. Boudin, the son of a mariner, taught himself to paint, awakened Claude Monet's interest in landscape, and participated in the first Impressionist exhibition while remaining apart from the movement. The reproductions span his beach scenes at Trouville, seascapes, harbors, market and pilgrimage scenes, and views of Brussels, Bordeaux, and Venice.
