Interior pages unmarked.A verse mock-trial of Lewis Carroll's Walrus and Carpenter, written by Greg Anthony in Carroll's own meter and framed as a criminal prosecution brought by the Crown "more than 100 years after the fact... during the reign of Elizabeth II." Part I, "The Crime," reprints Carroll's 1872 poem (from Through the Looking-Glass) in full. Part II, "The Trial," is Anthony's original verse: the Walrus and Carpenter are indicted for criminal and tort liability in the killing and consumption of the young Oysters, the Walrus's tears are weighed as evidence of mens rea, and the Court delivers a verdict commuting their sentence to perpetual recitation of Carroll's lines about "ships, and shoes, and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings."Privately printed by Kensington University Press of Glendale, California, with the title-page imprint of Church Press, also Glendale, this pamphlet is an artifact from inside one of the more notorious unaccredited correspondence law schools in modern American higher education. Kensington University was founded in Glendale in 1976 by attorney Alfred Calabro and operated as a State Bar of California-approved unaccredited correspondence law school out of his law office; it issued some seven thousand degrees, including credentials famously displayed in Kim Il Sung's residence in Pyongyang, before California regulators ordered the school closed in 1996.
