Condition & notes

In Good condition. Plain white paper wraps with small red and black title block at center of front cover. Light bumping and creasing to edges and corners, mild shelf wear, and some faint surface marks and light soiling to covers. Staple binding tight. Pages unmarked.Exhibition catalog for Art Heals, Art Works, a sixteen-artist group show curated by guest artist/curator Janice DeLoof. The exhibition opened at the Palos Verdes Art Center, Rancho Palos Verdes, California (January 25 to March 24, 2002) and traveled to the Fullerton Museum Center, Fullerton, California (August 3 to September 29, 2002). The catalog contains four critical essays on art as a response to personal trauma: an introduction by curator Janice DeLoof; the title essay by Southern California art critic Suvan Geer (Artweek, Sculpture Magazine, Public Art Review, ArtScene); an essay by writer and critic Roberta Carasso; and "Healing from Trauma: Art and the Brain" by Carol Caddes, MFT. Each of the sixteen exhibitors is represented by a full-page color reproduction and a personal artist statement: Janet Inez Adams, Marsia Alexander-Clarke, Stephen Anderson, Barbara Berk, Angie Bray, Deborah Davidson, Janice DeLoof, Cheryl Ekstrom, Carol Goldmark, Mildred Kouzel, Deborah Krall, Patrick Merrill, Jeff Middlemiss, Robert Miller, Cathy Salser, and Jean Towgood. Among the exhibitors are printmaker Patrick Merrill and Cathy Salser, founder of A Window Between Worlds, the nonprofit running art workshops in domestic violence shelters. Catalog designed by the Graphic Design Workshop at California State University, Long Beach (Professor Tom Hall, with designers Lifen Tsao and Nolin Tanaka). Dedicated by the curator to the memory of her son, Bradley John DeLoof.
