Otherwise unmarked.Catalogue published on the occasion of the Wayne Thiebaud: Seventy Years of Painting retrospective at the Palm Springs Art Museum (February 11 to May 17, 2009) and the San Jose Museum of Art (February 27 to July 4, 2010), surveying seven decades of work by Wayne Thiebaud (1920-2021): the early Sacramento juvenilia and Disney-studio drawings, the 1960s confectionery and counter still lifes for which he is best known (Cheese Display, Watermelon Slices, Hot Dog Stand), the figure paintings and majorettes, the vertiginous San Francisco cityscapes (Down 18th Street, Urban Freeways), and the late aerial Sacramento Delta and California Coastal landscapes (Coastal Farms, Flood Waters, Dark Beach, Triangle Beach). The exhibition was built on an earlier retrospective, Thiebaud: Seventy Years of Painting, organized by Professor Gene Cooper for the Laguna Art Museum in 2007; for the Palm Springs and San Jose presentations, the catalogue was enlarged, additional recent works were added, Cooper's essay was reprinted, and a new lead essay by Steven Nash was contributed.
