Condition & notes

In Good condition. Glossy pictorial wraps (cover image a detail of Yedidsion's 1996 installation Quel verde, la tua presenza, la tua assenza / That Green, Your Presence, Your Absence) with mild shelf wear, light bumping and creasing to the cover edges. The dark back panel shows the wear more visibly: light surface scratches and rubbing across the black ground. Binding tight. The dedication page bears an ink inscription by the artist that has been subsequently overwritten in heavy ink to render it illegible. Otherwise pages are clean and unmarked. Catalog of Meira Yedidsion's 1996 solo exhibition at the Palazzo Ducale di Mantova, installed in the Appartamento di Isabella D'Este in Santa Croce, with text by the Italian journalist and critic Costanzo Costantini. Yedidsion (born Tehran, 1955) trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, working briefly in the studio of Alberto Ziveri before moving toward conceptual and Arte Povera idioms; this Mantua show, her largest to date, presents twenty-eight paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media installations from 1988 to 1996, including the large-scale fabric-and-plaster works With You on the River, That Green Your Presence Your Absence, The Wall, In the Time of the Psyche, and The Missile's Prey. Costantini's introduction frames her work as essentially autobiographical, drawing on Heidegger's distinction between Sein and Dasein and tracing the recurring polarities of her art (light and shade, being and absence, the maternal and the mortal). The catalog closes with a full biographical chronology, exhibition history, list of articles and presentations, and bibliography. Issued under the patronage of the Ministero per i Beni Culturali e Ambientali and the Soprintendenza per i Beni Artistici e Storici di Mantova.
