Condition & notes

In Very Good condition, no dust jacket. Green cloth boards with pictorial log cabin and pine tree scene stamped in darker green on front cover, with titling reading "The Works of Stewart Edward White / Arizona Nights" on front and spine in gilt that has heavily faded to a coppery red-orange. Spine continues the decorative pine tree and cabin design in darker green stamping and bears the publisher imprint "Doubleday Page & Co." at the foot. Mild shelf wear with light rubbing and bumping along edges and minor fraying at the corner tips. Small stain at bottom front corner. Back cover plain green cloth with a few minor surface marks. Binding is tight. Gilt top edge. Interior pages toned. Otherwise unmarked. Reprint of the 1907 McClure first edition, issued as part of the publisher's uniform "Works of Stewart Edward White" series. First published by The McClure Company in 1907 with color illustrations by N.C. Wyeth, Arizona Nights is a collection of interconnected tales of frontier and ranch life in the American Southwest. This 1913 Doubleday, Page reprint was issued as part of "The Works of Stewart Edward White" and includes a single black-and-white frontispiece by Wyeth. Three parts: Part I "Arizona Nights" (sixteen chapters opening with "The Ole Virginia"), Part II "The Two-Gun Man" (four chapters), and Part III "The Rawhide" (fourteen chapters). The stories follow cowhands, remittance men, rustlers, rangers, and sailors across the mesas, canyons, and cattle country of Arizona. Dedicated to "Captain W. H.
