Promotional sightseeing brochure, single sheet of paper printed on both sides and folded into 10 panels (5 per side); 22 cm folded, approximately 48 x 22 cm when fully opened; illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions.
In Very Good condition. Orange and white printed paper cover with bold black and white lettering and a white California state outline (with "Tia Juana Mexico" noted). Color remains bright and typography is crisp. A few small edge nicks, short creases, and mild corner wear are present from age and handling. Interior panels, printed in orange, black, and white, are clean with no writing, stamps, or other markings. Paper remains pliable and all folds hold without splitting.Issued by Allison Auto Tours (Sightseeing Headquarters, 606 South Flower Street, Los Angeles) advertising guided Southern California motor tours in "seven and eight passenger late model Touring Cars (not busses)." The brochure lays out itineraries, mileages, and fares across seven interior panels describing five tours: Beautiful Pasadena (3.5 hours, $2.00), Hollywood and Beaches (3.5 hours, 54 miles, $2.00), The Beautiful City of Los Angeles (3 hours, 34 miles), Riverside and Redlands (round trip, one day, 158 miles), and San Diego (two days, 310 miles, $10.00). Photographic illustrations include San Juan Capistrano, Torrey Pines, Balboa Park, Mission Cliff Gardens, the Foothill Boulevard, Pasadena streetscapes, motion picture studios of Hollywood, a Southern California beach scene, and a touring car parked before a mission ruin. A period advertisement for State Mortgage & Finance Company of Los Angeles appears on one interior panel.[From back cover] OUR SERVICE. Our equipment consists of seven and eight passenger late model Touring Cars (not busses). Especially built into each car is a center seat, cushioned and upholstered, allowing the same comfortable sitting position and knee room as front and rear seats, thus eliminating the discomfort of jump seats. Our various trips include all points of interest and beauty in Southern California. Our cars are driven by men of intelligence and refinement, who have had years of experience in this particular work and understand the requirements necessary to an exclusive touring service. We arrange all details for the convenience and comfort of patrons. Upon request we will have a representative call and plan tours for your party of one or more persons. We receive and deliver passengers at any hotel or close-in address. A daily schedule service is maintained, except during inclement weather, when all reservations are either cancelled or postponed.
