In Acceptable+ condition. Green glazed paper wrappers with a leatherette finish, lettered in black with "THE IRISH TERRIER" set on the diagonal across the upper portion and "F. M. JOWETT / G. L. M. HENRY" at lower right; rear cover plain. Light shelf wear to covers with mild bumping to corners. Sewn binding pulled at the threads but still intact. Previous owner's name in ink on front free end paper; interior pages toned but otherwise unmarked. The tipped-in folding pedigree chart is present and still attached but shows a tear running the full length of one fold and a separate approximately 3-inch tear along one edge.F. M. Jowett's foundational handbook on the Irish Terrier, first issued early in the twentieth century and reaching through multiple editions; this Sixth Edition was revised and brought up to date after Jowett's death by George L. M. Henry, A.C.A., with a Preface to the Revised Edition by Arthur F. Marples recording that Mr. Henry "has brought it right up to date, the original has been altered very little, but much historical data concerning the Dare-Devil of modern times, its celebrities, both human and canine, has been added which will, we feel sure, increase its value." The frontispiece is an oval portrait of "The Late Mr. F. M. Jowett." The tipped-in folding chart is the book's signature feature: an extended pedigree showing how over 90 per cent. of modern show Irish Terriers are descended from either Champion Erin or Killiney Boy, compiled from Kennel Club Stud Book records.
