Chatto & Windus, Published 1926. Hardcover, 265 pp.; 20 cm. In Acceptable condition, no dust jacket. Khaki cloth boards with a paper label pasted to the spine reading "FOUR PLAYS / A. A. MILNE." Boards show light to moderate overall scuffing and soiling; cloth nicked and frayed at corner tips and at top and bottom of spine, with chipping to cloth at the base of the spine. Binding tight. Front pastedown bears an Art Deco bookplate with a woman's portrait; previous owner's name and date (1927) written in ink on front free endpaper. Pages chipped and torn along fore-edges where leaves were separated; otherwise lightly aged, with some toning to rear endpapers. A loose duplicate spine label (matching the affixed spine label) is laid in at rear. Collects four of Milne's stage plays: To Have the Honour; Ariadne, or Business First; Portrait of a Gentleman in Slippers; and Success. The facing page to the title page lists companion volumes (First Plays, Second Plays, Three Plays) with their respective impression numbers, but carries no impression notice for Four Plays itself, indicating this is the first impression.
