Privately produced historical booklet documenting the development of the El Segundo Refinery Fire Department and the evolution of industrial fire protection at the Standard Oil refinery in El Segundo, California. Includes numerous historical photographs depicting refinery fires, volunteer firemen of the 1920s, early fire stations, firefighting equipment, oil well blowouts, and refinery incidents from the early twentieth century through the early 1990s. The text describes early refinery hazards, the development of organized fire protection systems, and major industrial fires associated with refinery operations and surrounding oil fields.
