Illustrated paper covers with light bumping and creasing to edges and corners; mild shelf wear with a bit of color loss on front cover near title and light fading along edges and spine. Binding tight; staple-bound interior, pages clean and unmarked.Privately issued by Desert Magazine, Evelyne Boynton Grierson's portfolio of twenty paintings of Western ghost towns, the camps spanning Nevada, California and Colorado. Grierson worked as both artist and historian: she rendered each town in oil and wrote its facing history herself, drawing (per her credits) on the Nevada State Historical Society, the Territorial Enterprise and Virginia City Chronicle, the Wells Fargo Museum, and the recollections of local old-timers. The volume opens with her own verse, "A Way of Life."
