The handbook reproduces photographs and line drawings documenting approximately 2,000 examples of early American pressed glass patterns, intended for use by collectors and dealers in the field. Arranged visually by form and pattern, the book provides standardized nomenclature and pattern identification for nineteenth-century American pressed glass produced roughly between 1840 and 1890. Long regarded as a standard authority in the study and collecting of American pressed glass, with all patterns identified in Lee's publications commonly referred to as "Lee" patterns.
