Condition & notes

In acceptable condition. Original maroon card covers printed in brown with border rules, stars, and title and tan. Bumping and creasing to edges and corners of covers and moderate overall scuffing and soiling to covers as well. Binding sound. Small circular library stamp (Deutscher Schulverein, San Francisco) on front endpaper. Otherwise pages have scattered foxing, more pronounced on endpapers and margins, but are unmarked. An illustrated monograph on the elaborate early 18th century dollhouse of Princess Augusta Dorothea von Schwarzburg Arnstadt (1666 - 1751), known as Mon Plaisir. Essay by Karl Grober provides historical and cultural context. Plates and in text illustrations depict courtly, domestic, and theatrical scenes from the Furstins miniature world, with figures engaged in music, games, visits, shopping, and daily activities.
