In very good condition. Black and white pictorial paper covers have light bumping to edges and corners and light overall scuffing. Binding tight (staple bound). Pages clean and unmarked. Black and white illustrations throughout, including historical photographs and a map. A promotional booklet distributed to visitors of the Kern County Museum's Pioneer Village in Bakersfield, California. Sponsored by Bakersfield Savings and Loan Association following its 1958 merger into Great Western Financial Corporation, the booklet offers a guided tour through the village's reconstructed and relocated 19th-century buildings. Structures include the Bella Union Hotel, Norris School, Weill House, blacksmith shop, dentist's office, and many others. Each is described briefly alongside historical context and illustrations. Includes foreword by bank president Elmer Goertz and a welcome by Village Director Richard Bailey. The Kern County Museum was established in 1941 to preserve the region's heritage, and Pioneer Village opened in 1952 as a living history exhibit that has since expanded to over 50 historic buildings on 16 acres. Still in operation today, it remains one of California's most comprehensive outdoor history museums.
