Condition & notes

In very good condition, in original string binding. Small tear to the top edge of the front cover and light overall scuffing and fading to covers as well. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. A bibliographical essay by Francis P. Farquhar discussing Grizzly Adams (John Adams, 1812 - 1860), a noted California frontiersman and bear trainer of the 1850s, and examining the bibliographic history and priority of editions of Theodore H. Hittell's The Adventures of James Capen Adams. Includes details of Adams' life, his association with P. T. Barnum, and the publication history of Hittell's book.
