In very good condition/ no dust jacket. Tan cloth covered boards with brown lettering on front and spine. Light scuffing to edges of covers. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Not Ex-library. This second edition is a reprint published by the Southport Historical Society of Reminiscences of Wilmington and Smithville-Southport, 1848 - 1900 by Dr. Walter Gilman Curtis, originally published in 1905 by his son Howard. Dr. Curtis served for thirty years as state quarantine surgeon for the Port of Wilmington. This second edition includes a new foreword and introduction by Wolfgang Furstenau. It preserves the original layout with minimal corrections and adds an index. The narrative recounts local history, personal recollections, the rise of Wilmington as a naval-store producer, town formation, education, industry, and Curtis's own professional and civic life. Illustrated throughout with period photographs and figures.
