In good condition with light bumping and creasing to edges and corners and light to moderate overall scuffing, aging and soiling. Binding tight (staple bound). Previous owner's name in ink at top of half-title page. Otherwise pages are lightly aged but unmarked. Includes laid-in 2 page typed list of the seals which were in the present exhibition. Text by Mary S. Lawton, based on her doctoral dissertation. Foreword by Edward A. Maser; introduction by Harrie A. Vanderstappen. Includes a scholarly analysis of Hsieh Shih-ch'ên's reinterpretation of classical Chinese pictorial traditions, an annotated catalogue of works, bibliography, and institutional lenders.
