In very good condition with light bumping and creasing to edges and corners of covers and light overall scuffing and fading. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Includes 16 full page color plates and numerous black-and-white reproductions of work by Hungarian-American painter Bela Petheo, with chapters covering his life and career from Budapest and Vienna through New York, Chicago, Cedar Falls, and finally Collegeville, MN, where he served as artist-in-residence from 1966 - 1982. Essay and research by J. Gray Sweeney, art historian and scholar of American painting, with special focus on Petheo's realist style and his contributions as an immigrant artist working in the American Midwest.
