Ester de Izaguirre (1923-2016) was born in Asunción, Paraguay, to an Argentine father and Paraguayan mother. She moved to Buenos Aires at the age of five. A celebrated poet and academic, Izaguirre earned numerous distinctions, including the Premio Municipal de Cuento and Gran Premio Dupuytren. She served as a lecturer at universities worldwide, including San Diego State University and the University of California, Irvine, and was invited by UNESCO (Paris) in 1983. Her works, known for their emotional depth and verbal precision, have been translated into German, Italian, English, and French.
