Peterson (1857 - 1945) was the founder, editor, and publisher of the Litchfield Independent newspaper from 1876 -1918. He was instrumental in shaping local journalism in Meeker County. In addition to his journalism career, Peterson and his family owned a property at Stony Point near Lake Koronis, which they cherished as a retreat. The author, one of nine grandchildren on H. I. and Jessie Doll Peterson, has attempted through this collection of material written by H. I. as founder, editor and publisher of The Lichtfiled Independent newspaper, to bring to the reader a picture of this man, H. I. Peterson.
