In acceptable condition/ NO dust jacket. Red cloth covered boards with gold lettering on front and spine. Bumping and scuffing to edges of covers with a bit of the color scuffed off along the edge and some light nicking to the cloth at corner tips and top and bottom of spine. Binding tight. Usual Library and Ex-library markings, including stamps and stickers. Previous owner's name and "Do Not Loan" stamped on front and rear paste-downs and on a few other pages. A portion of the original dust jacket that has the blurb is pasted onto the rear paste-down. Pages are lightly aged with ocassional light spotting. Overall a solid reading copy of this scarce book. Louis Tracy (1863-1928) was a British journalist and author known for his detective and adventure novels. He began his career as a journalist before transitioning into fiction, where he gained popularity for his engaging storytelling and fast-paced plots. Tracy was highly versatile, writing under his own name and various pseudonyms, such as Gordon Holmes and Robert Fraser. He was also one of the early writers in the detective fiction genre, which later became more widely known through authors like Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. Tracy's work often featured well-crafted mysteries with sharp, resourceful protagonists.
