[From Editorial, pg 2] With this issue we salute the San Pedro Library and its whole history, our librarians right down to the greatly valued Mrs. Anne Rumery, the library staff-people who become our friends, the energetic Friends of the Library and Books-on-Legs and all those who have served the interests of library enjoyment over the years. We have called to memory a beloved librarian of our school system and we feature the story of the special services to shut-in people led by the very paragon of volunteers, the tireless, generous Phyllis Ackerman. It is altogether fitting that we should so honor the library and these people at the time of the dedication of the truly splendid new facility. It was the Friends of the Library hand- in-hand with the San Pedro Art and Historical Society who saw to the founding of this Historical Society through meetings as early as March, 1974, up to the first official meeting July 2nd, the same year. We all join to thank you for what you have done for this community.
