Dawson's Book Shop, founded by Ernest Dawson in 1905 on South Grand Avenue in Los Angeles, became a renowned rare book dealer specializing in Western Americana, fine press books, art and photography. The shop, run by the Dawson family for over a century, was a cultural hub for collectors and enthusiasts and published numerous limited editions. The subjects range from landscapes of the region, city views, California missions and bird's-eye views to portraits and magazine illustrations. We have included the work of a few photographers as well: Albert Hiller, James Doolittle, Ernest Pratt and W. H. Rabe. The sizes given on the prints are the printed area, not including margins, with height preceding width. All loose leaf artwork on paper is matted with archival board, unless otherwise noted.
