In acceptable condition. Folio (oversized - 14.25 x 10") paper covers, Bottom of magazine has several 1" or smaller tears with some chipping and all of the bottom corners of the pages are folded up. Moderate overall aging, spotting and soiling to covers with light spotting to edges of interior pages. NOT Ex-library. Overall a solid reading copy of this scarce magazine of California. Pictorial California and the Pacific was a monthly magazine published in Los Angeles from 1925 to 1970. It was founded and published by Eugene Swarzwald. His wife, Vivian Swarzwald, was the editor. The magazine was known for its high-quality rotogravure photographs of California and the Pacific West and features stunning images of landscapes, wildlife, cities, and people. The magazine was particularly successful in post-war California, where its beautiful photographs of California's natural wonders and glamorous lifestyle helped to boost tourism and promote economic growth. This issue feature photographs depicting the first 100 years (1849-1949) of California's history since the gold rush. Includes sections on San Diego, "Old Monterey" - California's First Capital, California's State Capitals, The Bay of San Francisco, Death Valley - Emigrant Nemesis, Los Angeles Harbor, Northern Outposts, Palm Springs History, Centennial Personalities.
