In very good condition. Brown paper wraps have light bumping and creasing to edges and corners and light overall scuffing and aging. Small date in ink in top corner of front cover near spine. Binding tight (staple bound). Pages lightly agee but otherwise clean and unmarked. NOT Ex-library. NO remainder marks. Thomas Moran (1837-1926) was an American artist who focused on the American West. Influenced by the Hudson River School, he used dramatic lighting and a sense of vastness to create awe-inspiring landscapes. His participation in the Hayden Geological Survey expedition to Yellowstone National Park in 1871 was a pivotal moment, shaping his artistic career and influencing public perception of the West. Fritiof Fryxell (1893-1982) was an American geologist and writer who had a deep appreciation for Thomas Moran's art. His book, "Thomas Moran: Explorer in Search of Beauty" (1958), bridged the gap between art and science and offered a deeper appreciation for Moran's artistic vision.
