Published on the occasion of a retrospective of Austrian film in the interwar period at the osterreichischen Filmarchiv, May 27-June 9 1980. Under the title "Das Gab's Nur Einmal" ("That was only once"), the festival presented feature films and contemporary documents that provided an overview of the rich film industry in Vienna from 1918 to 1938. Each film was viewed as a document of contemporary history and newsreels, documentaries, cultural films and advertising films from the corresponding period were also presented to give the viewers a better understanding of the time period. The selected feature films came from Austrian production or were shot by Austrians abroad.
