Prior owner's name in gilt on front cover (Gifford B. Crary). Comprehensive listing of yachts, their designers, builders, sailmakers, owners & port of registry. Includes 56 color lithographic plates (14 color plates of yacht club burgees and 42 color plates of private signals of Yachtsmen - with at least one with a swastika!) Does NOT include any laid-in addenda or corrections sheets. In good condition. Scuffing to the edges and with a few spots of color scuffed off on the front cover. Moderate overall spotting and soiling to covers as well. Front hinge is cracked but still attached with some tearing to the paper on the hinge between the front paste-down and the front free end paper. Otherwise binding is solid. Pages lightly aged but otherwise unmarked. NOT Ex-Library. A fascinating snapshot of Yacht ownership in the United States just before the crash of the stock market that led to the Great Depression. Notable yachts listed include: the Delphine, commissioned by American automobile magnate, Horace Dodge and built by Michigan shipbuilding company, Great Lakes Engineering Works, the Vagrant, owned by Harold S. Vanderbilt, and the Nina owned and sailed by Paul Hammond.
