In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Pictorial paper over boards, white and yellow lettering on spine; light bumping and mild shelf wear to edges. Binding tight. White endpapers. Inscribed in black ink on half-title to a recipient by first name, "als kleines Dankeschon mit den besten Grussen, viel Spass beim Lesen" ("as a small thank-you with best regards, enjoy the reading"), dated Los Angeles, April 2008, and signed with first name only, appearing to read "Bernd." Attributed to the author, who became director of the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles in 2005; not compared with a known example of his hand. Pages otherwise unmarked. Teal pictorial dust jacket with wraparound photographic image of author with electric guitar shows light bumping to edges. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. Collection of rock lyrics and poems written between 1985 and 2005, each given in its original German or English. Desinger (born Oberhausen, 1962) sang and composed with several bands and joined the Goethe-Institut in 1990, with postings including Athens and Toronto; he has directed the Filmmuseum Dusseldorf since 2009. Texts are drawn from his poem cycles and from the concert program of the art-rock band "design." The introduction by German science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar takes the title from dark matter and dark energy. "Y-sevys war'n carrygy" appears in Cornish, translated by the Cornish historian and linguist P. A. S. Pool of Penzance, with the German alongside; "Der See" appears with a Korean title and translation credits to Eomki Sung and Young Lee.
