Mild surface and edge wear with some soiling to rear cover. Very mild creasing to spine; binding tight. Bumping to edges and corners of text block, with a crease through the lower corner of most pages. Pages clean and unmarked. Bilingual monograph on the Brussels artist group LAb[au], whose light installations, kinetic objects and architectural integrations follow the traditions of concrete, conceptual and systems art. The book groups work from 2007 to 2015 under six concepts (spectr(a)um, phenOptics, randomOrder, m0t1f, fLUX and inFORMation), each project cross-referenced by mode (integration, installation or object) and by the type of algorithmic system behind it. The group's essays explain the method and present the book as a complement to their 2010 monograph MetaDesign. Projects include chronoTower on the Rogier Tower, Brussels; the kinetic tile wall mosaique 15x26 for the Maison Mecatronique, Annecy-le-Vieux; the origami series shown at DAM Gallery, Berlin, and Muriel Guepin Gallery, New York; kNit, the winning entry for the Victoria and Albert Museum's 2012 Winter Commission; framework 5x5x5 at Kunst-Station Sankt Peter, Cologne; signalToNoise at le lieu unique, Nantes; and 2x540 kHz, made with the musician Mika Vainio. Contents: Preface; Index; Art Attitude; Select Biography; The Digital Concrete; Aesthetics of Perception; spectr(a)um; phenOptics; randomOrder; m0t1f; fLUX; inFORMation; Colophon and Acknowledgements.
