In Very Good condition. Black paper covers with color reproductions of the artist's paintings front and rear, mild shelf and edge wear, faint surface scuffing, light creasing to upper corner of rear cover. Staple bound, binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Bilingual English and Chinese catalogue of recent work by Ruby H. Wang (Hua Zhining, b. 1932), the Chinese-American painter based in Binghamton, New York. As a teenager Wang studied under the guohua master Huang Chun-pi (C. P. Huang), then with Wu Yong-xiang at National Taiwan Normal University (BFA 1956) and at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, settling in the United States in 1957. Her mature work, watercolor and ink on rice paper and often collaged from her own torn paintings, moves from Chinese landscape toward abstraction. Includes a biography and list of awards (National Watercolor Society signature member and 2002 Best of Show; 1997 Chang Dai-Chien Award, Sumi-e Society of America), permanent collections (Binghamton University, Roberson Museum, IBM), an artist's statement on her "trinity" of God, painting and self, and color reproductions of nine paintings, including a tondo collage.
