Soriano, John Lautner, and Wurster, Bernardi and Emmons, as well as Lockwood de Forest; photographers include Julius Shulman, Maynard L. Parker, Morley Baer, Roger Sturtevant, Ernest Braun and Karl Obert. Chapters cover bookcases around windows, doorways and fireplaces, partitions, desks, storage for records and magazines, and bedside shelving, and the book ends with a practical section on construction, materials and finishes. Sunset Books drew its titles largely from the magazine, which by the early 1950s sold over a million copies an issue and was a principal channel through which West Coast modern domestic design reached a general audience.
