Inscribed and signed by the author on title page to two recipients ("Congratulations on Writer Scholar program at MU"). Laid in: the author's Marshall University business card (Dr. Danny Greyson Fulks, College of Education).

In Very Good condition. Glossy pictorial covers with red and cream floral border; light bumping to edges, mild shelf wear. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Twelve essays on rural life in southern Ohio and West Virginia from the 1930s onward, several first published in Timeline (Ohio Historical Society), Goldenseal and Hearthstone: moonshining in Lincoln County, a Civil War veteran's tombstone, the tobacco port of Crown City, the 1935 Greasy Ridge murders, coal loading at Walton's Mine, the Waterloo Wonders state basketball champions, and Bevo Francis at Rio Grande College. Fulks, born in Gallia County and long a professor at Marshall University, followed it with Tragedy on Greasy Ridge (2003). Rear cover misprints the series as "Working Dogs Series."
