In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Maroon textured paper over boards with white lettering on spine. Mild shelf and edge wear. Binding tight. Endpapers mildly toned. Otherwise, pages clean and unmarked. Pictorial dust jacket, not price-clipped, has a few tiny nicks and light creasing to edges, a faint vertical scratch to coating on front panel, mild shelf and edge wear, and some toning to bottom of rear panel and to flaps. Classic Motorbooks (Minneapolis) distributor's label at foot of front flap, possibly over the original printed price. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. The author's own acknowledgements describe this as the first book in English devoted wholly to the modern Rolls-Royce motor-car. Ullyett, already the author of books on the Silver Ghost and the Phantoms, follows the postwar cars from the Silver Wraith through the Silver Dawn and Silver Cloud to the Phantoms IV, V and VI and the V8 Silver Shadow, with chapters on the Crewe works and on engine development. Drawing on company material and Institution of Mechanical Engineers papers, it includes the royal Phantoms supplied to the Queen and the Queen Mother, and cutaway drawings of the Silver Shadow body shell, suspension and hydraulic system.
