In very good condition. Illustrated paper covers reproduce a Catherwood lithograph of Maya ruins in sepia, with light bumping to edges and corners and mild shelf wear. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Stock catalogue of Archaeologia, the Oakland antiquarian firm at 707 Carlston Avenue trading in archaeology books since 1983, issued Fall 1996 under the order codeword CATHERWOOD. Entries carry full collations, condition notes and prices. Proprietors Arthur Richter and Andrew Gordon; Gordon took his doctorate in Egyptology at Berkeley in 1983 and later wrote "The Quick and the Dead: Biomedical Theory in Ancient Egypt" with Calvin Schwabe (Brill, 2004). Priced highlights include William Hamilton's Aegyptiaca (London, 1809) in Robert Southey's copy at $3,500, 83 original Harry Burton photographs of the Tutankhamen excavation taken during the first season following Carter's discovery at $8,500, and an inscribed presentation copy of Stephens, Incidents of Travel in Egypt, Arabia Petraea and the Holy Land (1837) at $1,500.
