Small area of surface abrasion and light staining at lower left of front cover. Mild overall soiling to back cover, with a curved scuff running through lower left. Binding tight. Several plate pages carry a brief notation in black ink in the lower margin, reading "Displayed" with a date, the dates ranging from April 2012 to June 2013. Otherwise unmarked. Selections from the Harold C. Dobberpuhl Collection of the Cedarburg Cultural Center, gathering 174 photographs made between the late 1940s and the mid-1960s. A Cedarburg native, Dobberpuhl (1931-2002) freelanced for the Ozaukee Press and the Cedarburg News from his high school years until his election as Ozaukee County Clerk in 1964, where the collection ends. The photographs record a Wisconsin mill town of 2,245 becoming a Milwaukee suburb: Washington Avenue storefronts identified by name, the Union House Hotel and the Interurban station, county fair and parade crowds, school graduations, and residents named in the captions. This expanded edition adds 45 photographs to the 1995 original. Donated by the photographer, the collection now anchors the Cedarburg History Museum's photo gallery. Contents: Cedarburg, 1946-1964: An Introduction; Cedarburg at Mid-Century: An Overview; A Legacy of Landmarks; Portraits of the People; Social Life and Community Celebrations; Growth and Development; The Legacy Continues.
