Condition & notes
In very good condition. Postcards are in as new condition, retaining the original white paper band. Decorative box has very light bumping and shelf wear to edges. Fifteen British and American magazine advertisements of the 1950s, reproduced two apiece as postcards. From the American side, Max Factor Creme Puff, Tide, Jell-O, Post Toasties, S.O.S, Arrow sport shirts and Jantzen swimwear; from the British, OMO and Surf detergents, the Kenwood Chef mixer and Manumatic two-pedal motoring. Several are pitched squarely at the postwar housewife, and the Manumatic card promises a car a woman can drive as well as her husband can. Images are drawn from The Advertising Archives in London, built up by Larry and Suzanne Viner from 1989 and now running to roughly a million press advertisements and magazine covers dating from 1850. Published by teNeues, the Kempen photography and design house founded in 1931.
