In Very Good condition. Black-and-white illustrated cover with light bumping to edges and corners; mild toning and soiling. Otherwise clean and unmarked. From Jules Dassin's 1960 film Never on Sunday, starring Melina Mercouri. This is the July 1961 printing (print code 7-61 on the rear cover), issued after the song won the 1961 Academy Award for Best Original Song and adding the "1961 Academy Award Winner" banner to the cover; the 1960 first printing predates the award. The rear cover reprints the original Greek lyric, "The Children of Piraeus" (Ta Paidia tou Peiraia), which Manos Hadjidakis wrote for Mercouri to sing in the film, alongside a roster of more than two dozen recording artists under the banner "the most recorded song in motion picture history." English lyric by Billy Towne.
