In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Grey paper-covered boards with blue cloth spine and silver lettering to spine; mild shelf and edge wear with a hint of toning to the edges; binding tight. Inscribed and signed on the front free endpaper by the author's mother, Ingrid Beach, as a gift to a family friend. Pages otherwise clean and unmarked; a 3/4 inch tear to the lower edge of one plate leaf before p.117, and a small marginal nick to the lower edge of pages 117-141, not affecting text. Pictorial dust jacket shows mild shelf wear and a hint of fading to the top edge.
