Green and white illustrated paper covers with light bumping and creasing to edges and corners, mild shelf wear, and light soiling to rear cover, with a small nick to the bottom edge of the front cover. Comb binding tight. Pages mildly toned. Otherwise unmarked.A community fundraiser cookbook produced by the parents of Seabury Hall, the Episcopal college-preparatory school founded in 1964 on the slopes of Haleakala at Makawao, in Upcountry Maui. First published in April 1977, it interleaves recipes contributed by the school's parents, students, faculty, and friends with a series of local-history essays researched by Kay Boyum: Cooper House (the 1929 C. W. Dickey house bequeathed by Katharine McGrew Cooper to found the school), Haleakala Crater, the Homesteads, the Portuguese stone ovens, the Ditch Country and the Hamakua irrigation ditch, Po'okela Church, and the immigrant "Melting Pot" of the islands. The recipes reflect that same cultural mix, from island fish and Crater Cooking to Portuguese, Japanese, and Chinese dishes.
