Condition & notes

In Very Good condition. Color illustrated wrappers with mild shelf wear; some white soiling and spotting to back cover; mild toning to edges and spine. Binding tight, staple bound. Interior clean and unmarked. Profiles thirty-six native trees of the Sierra Nevada, conifers and broadleaves, with notes on description, age, size, characteristics, reproduction, and historical and Native uses. The illustrations are by Jane Gyer, a Yosemite-area artist since 1956 whose work centers on tree forms; her color cover illustrations and the numerous black-and-white plates and drawings carry much of the book. Text by Stephen F. Arno, a forest ecologist with the U.S. Forest Service who came to know the Sierra as a naturalist at Sequoia and Kings Canyon.
