In Good condition with a Good dust jacket. Light green cloth boards, gilt lettering on spine, with mild shelf wear and light bumping to corners and edges. Binding tight. Previous owner's name in green ink at the top corner of the front free endpaper; copyright line on the copyright page covered over with black tape. Pages otherwise clean and unmarked. Jacket (not price-clipped) with a few small edge nicks and tears, light edge creasing, and mild wear, aging, and soiling. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. A transcription of the most interesting of the Spanish Town Papers, nearly a thousand bundles of sailing-ship documents (log books, letters, and ships' papers) taken as prizes by the Royal Navy and British privateers from American vessels during the War of Independence and left for almost two hundred years in the archives at Spanish Town, Jamaica. Among them are a clearance paper bearing the signature of George Washington, reproduced in facsimile, and a note from the young Horatio Nelson. Edited with a commentary by the British novelist E. Arnot Robertson, with photographs of the documents by H.E. Turner; includes appendices.
