In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Maroon textured paper boards; light bumping to corners, mild shelf wear. Binding tight. Previous owner's gift inscription in ink, dated 1994, on half-title page. Otherwise unmarked. Pictorial dust jacket reproduces a vintage color photograph of guests at the Inn's boathouse; a few small nicks and tears, light creasing along edges, mild shelf wear. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. History of the Bigwin Inn, once billed as North America's largest and most luxurious summer resort, on Bigwin Island in the Lake of Bays, Muskoka district, Ontario. Drawing on historical documents, vintage photographs, and period advertising, McTaggart traces the resort's Gatsby-era heyday: its grand Rotunda and octagonal dining room, masquerade balls and big-band concerts in the Pavilion, the eighteen-hole golf course, and the steamers and Portage Railway that carried guests across the lake.
