Wraps, staple bound, oblong; 21 x 31 cm; a perforated postcard book of 24 full-color reproductions of turn-of-the-century American Christmas postcards, on 6 detachable sheets of 4 cards each. In Good Plus condition. Illustrated kraft paper covers (faux postcard design) with a few tiny nicks and light creasing to edges, some splitting along the spine crease, and light overall scuffing and soiling. Four of the six sheets have pulled away from the staple binding and are laid in, but all remain intact and unseparated into individual cards. Postcard sheets bright and clean. Otherwise unmarked.[From Introduction] Season's Greetings is a collection of twenty-four American Christmas post cards from the turn of the century. These cards were all published from 1890-1915 at the height of what was then called the "post card craze." Overcoming the objections of postal bureaucrats who correctly foresaw a deluge and social arbiters who held stuffy notions about the privacy of the mails, the post card became a major publishing and collecting phenomenon. In an era that did not rely on the telephone for communication or the television for entertainment, the post card was used and enjoyed for both.
