Japanese American National Museum, Published 1990. Wraps, 29 pp. plus a four-panel fold-out; 33 cm; illustrated with color and black-and-white photographs, with interleaved printed vellum overlay leaves.

Condition & notes

In Very Good condition. Oversized black textured wraps with four die-cut windows to the front cover revealing color portraits on the first leaf. Mild shelf wear, light bumping to cover edges and corners, some surface scuffing to the black covers. Binding tight. Vellum overlay leaves and fold-out intact. Interior clean. Otherwise unmarked.Founding capital-campaign brochure for the Japanese American National Museum, produced to introduce the institution and solicit early support. Includes a statement by director Irene Y. Hirano, an invitation from the Board of Trustees, and sections on the museum's mission, collections, exhibitions, oral history and film programs, and its permanent site in the former Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles (built 1925). Printed quotations on interleaved vellum overlays draw on figures including Senator Daniel K. Inouye and astronaut Ellison Onizuka, with hand-lettering by Phil Fewsmith. A four-panel fold-out presents a watercolor rendering of the planned building together with ground, first, and second floor plans.
